"Some might choose to renovate a boat or caravan on the front drive. Harley Jones has gone one better. He’s restoring the forward fuselage of a General Dynamics F-111 tactical attack aircraft. And you won’t find a DIY help guide for that at Bunnings.

Looks like it, it appears to be Spitfire F22 PK519/G-SPXX when I compare the photo above with the photos in this article: https://www.key.aero/article/aeropla...s-peter-arnold

Try building an equivalent in the UK and in no time a little man, armed with a rainforest of legislation, from t'council planning dept would be knocking on your door .

When you take on a task like the F-111 are there any nasties you need to be aware of? Poisonous coatings, radiation, asbestos etc?

One of our FO's in his youth purchased a Avon from surplus and repaired it to running status, to test he tied it to a tree in the street and fired it up, attracted no end of attention, including the constabulary. Don't do it again was the only outcome.

asbestos for sure. Australian government was already caught out when burying the F-111 with asbestos.
Chrome-6 coating can also be a problem.
