They don't solve the problem for all user/browser combinations, but they appear to help with some.
Just returned from visiting my daughter in Perth and had the pleasure of a look around this very fine museum. Recommended !

Out of interest, did the gunners (all fleets / types / Air Forces) volunteer for their respective turrets, or, were they simply allocated to such and, if so, how and by whom?

KnC - I suspect that once a crew had been formed at the OTU, the gunners decided between themselves who would go in which turret. One factor might be size - especially with the B-17's ball turret, which was more suitable for shorter personnel.
