Mystery photo

The slide is dated January 1985, clearly a non-UK location but what is throwing me is the British Airways BAC 1-11 inside! Help please

For sure, it shows the hangar at Milano Linate

Could it be 1975 instead of 1985?

Looks like UK - German Navy Sea King had a landing accident near Yeovil in 1974, possibly that one?

Isn't a BA 1-11 more likely to be in that scheme in '85 rather than '75?

Reckon both equally likely, certainly saw Tridents in the BA scheme 74/75, in 85 I think the Landor scheme had just started appearing.

Disregard. It cannot be 1975. In addition to the 1-11 livery, the Fiat 242 van in the hangar is a later series, which appeared later than 1975.

Can't find absolutely anything on line about this. I think it may be a Flamant? Slide dated 1971

I have no opinion on the date, but the internet seems to think that the Fiat 242 was introduced in 1974; but there are perhaps minor dating details like bumpers or wing mirrors that are discernible in the original photo.

I'd say so, a -72, looks short for a 71/73.

Doing some thinking - Central/South America? Looked at places like La Paz and Mexico City on Google Earth but couldn't see anything obvious even going back with the history function.

It's possible that it's an earlier DC-8 with some sort of fake cowlings/nacelles - I know it doesn't look that way but I can't find any reports of DC-8-72s preserved in this way.
