Eurohub BHX
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to pick people brains again if possible, this time about the Eurohub terminal at Birmingham.
So I know when it opened and the reasons behind this - BA's attempt at a hub-and-spoke system back in the 90's.
However I'm trying to gather some information regarding the terminals operation after BA's departure.....
- When was the 'Eurohub' name dropped? Was this after BA's departure or before this?
- The terminal then became known as Terminal 2 before the two terminals were integrated in May 2011. What is the terminal now known as? Just a pier?
- Other airlines that have used the terminal/pier over the years - I know Air France and KLM were there for a while. Flybe, Jet2 and Ryanair. Any others?
- Any other information regarding the terminal.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Another query to add to my list -
- When did BA operate from BHX to JFK?
- When did AA operate from BHX to ORD?
- When did BA sell their shares in Eurohub?

Re BHX to ORD, not sure of the precise dates but I took that service twice, both in either 1994 or 1995. I remember both being a dream to fly on as a Y pax because the cabin was not more that 50-60% full so on all 4 sectors I had one of the window seat pairs on the 767 to myself

BA began the JFK service using a 763, then subsequently reduced capacity to a 757 operating BHX-JFK/YYZ. The dates are hazy but I'm sure I can dig them out. Give me a few days.
EDIT: Further research suggests a VC-10 service in the late sixties by what would then have been BOAC. Based on books I have from the seventies it has ceased before 1974. Given the then length of the runway I'd wonder whether payload/range was there for non stop. Possibly via Prestwick?

Eurohub will be BHX red terminal from next week, this alongside our red hotels should see some interesting movements and some potentially transferred from other airports :-)
3 x BA Regional B763s : G-BNWN/O/U
From 1995
2 x BA Regional B757s : G-BPEC/E
Routing to JFK on the B763 was initially split with GLA, BUT at the end, they tried GLA-JFK-BOS (wrong way round) and BHX-JFK-YYZ (equally barmy) on the B757.
BOAC originally started BHX-MAN-JFK and also via PIK back in the 70's. Their answer to that was "Use it or lose it" It didn't work at the time and the route was eventually dropped. They tried it again in different forms in the 90's as stated above and again the numbers were not worth while. BA then dropped the regions and everyone lost out.
Just spotted this and was immediately reminded of my "Monty Pythonesque" introduction to day 2 of the new Eurohub terminal. Dropped off by taxi at the main landside entrance I eventually found the staff entrance and was directed downstairs to the lower service levels where I was told there was a crew room/ ops and check-in.
Did I mention this was the day after it opened?
Every corridor was identical and every door was a grey slab with a single silver handle. Had they got round to fitting any signage or nameplates? Nope..
I did eventually find sanctuary but was almost hysterical as well
