An aviation goldmine!

Many of us have viewed the Wartime Airfields of Britain website with its aerial views of the bases as they are today. It has been replaced by Classic British Aviation Industry Advertisements 1909 - 1990 which is a real goldmine -- from aviation advertising of the 1930s to WW2 copies of the famous Tee Emm magazine where Pilot Officer Prune first made his appearance. Enjoy it as much as I am doing, and please consider contributing to help those who maintain this flying goldmine!

I had a vague idea that an Anson did shoot down a Dornier 18.
According to this site https://propeller09.wordpress.com/20...nson-mkia-fsx/ -

A Dornier Do 18 flying boat was also shot down by “Faithful Annie”, as the Avro Anson was known. That Dornier was the first German aircraft in the war to be shot down by the RAF.

but the RAF Musem website says

8 October 1939 A Royal Air Force Lockheed Hudson of No.224 Squadron, operating out of RAF Leuchars, shoots down a German Dornier Do18 flying boat ......................this is the first German aircraft to be destroyed by a Royal Air Force aircraft operating from Britain.

There appears to be a distinct lack of evidence for the assertion that an Anson shot down a Do 18.
