One for F-84F Thunderstreak Experts

Hi,

My last thread on this subject went straight off-piste so hopefully I can clarify: I'm looking for info on F-84F Thunderstreaks used in Gun-Val testing. Can anyone assist? I think there may have just been two aircraft involved, but I don't know what armament or anything else.

Please note: I'm not looking for anything on Gun-Val F-86Fs or other types used in Gun-Val: just the Thunderstreaks.

TIA.

What is your source of info that the F-84 was used in a Gun Val program? A link would be nice.

It's not a link: it's the preface to a report from one of the other Gun-Val programmes.

A copy of the preface would help. The only suggestion I have is maybe some one has assumed the trial using four F-84E fitted with 24 Oerlikon 8cm rockets and sent to Korea in 1951 for trials has taken the name Oerlikon as meaning one of the company's cannons. The rocket trial proved them to have a greater accuracy of fire than the rocket in use because of their high velocity, the project never went beyond the test program though. Their 20mm cannon armed a number of German WWII aircraft, Bf 109 included, plus the Japanese Zero, also used by the allies.

Preface doesn't provide anything other than 'F-84F'. I need either a similar report for the F-84F trial or someone who has the F-84F record cards. I have a shortlist of Thunderstreaks and Project numbers and record cards for the other a/c so it would just be a case of identifying which F-84Fs were assigned the same or consecutive project numbers.

Anyone?
