Linton's 25th Anniversary Flypast
Despite being a significant event, the 25th anniversary of operational flying by No.1 FTS at Linton-on-Ouse seems to have been overlooked by many. Does anyone have significant information / memories, etc - especially who flew the Chipmunk, Vampire T Mk.11 or three different marks of Jet Provosts?
"On 28 October 1982, No.1 FTS celebrated 25 years of operational flying at Linton-on-Ouse with a series of commemorative flypasts. Twenty-four Jet Provosts led by the CI, Wg Cdr Ed Jarron and Sqn Ldr
Bill Langworthy overflew the airfield in a formation that spelled the Station’s identification letters ‘L O 1’. This was followed by a display of various aircraft operated by school, including a Chipmunk, a Vampire T Mk.11, and three different marks of Jet Provosts"

Interesting to note the mention of Mr Guy Jefferson in the newspaper cutting, and his award of the BEM. I knew Guy during my time at Linton ATC, 1975 - 78. He invented the 'LATIS' (Linton Air Traffic Indicator System), the electronic 'Jet Clock' for timing how long each Jet Provost was airborne, and the 'UUPI' - Ultrasonic Undercarriage Position Indicator that gave Linton ATC an aural indication that wheels were down and locked.
