Question Vulcan Long Shot Qustion?

Have got a bit of a long shot question here for anyone with a good memory! In the 1970's I used to live near the flight path of RAF Waddington and every sunday more or less a Vulcan would take off from RAF Waddington around 10.00 northbound climbing high on transit to somewhere any ideas anyone?

I suspect your memory is at fault.

Neither very helpful replies: I hope you can get someone 'in the know' on board for a decent answer.

If the "main" runway was 21, there is also 03.

I agree that the offerings are not very helpful and why should his memory be at fault ?

Ok let's put it this way, the other two respondents were at Waddington in the period specified; as was I. We did not regularly or routinely fly at weekends.

Then wouldn't it have been more helpful just to preface their reply with that information?

G90: yes, sadly, a simple question can quickly provoke an unexpected slanging match. Just relax and have another beer - it's not about you!

As the main was 21 and it was 'every Sunday more or less' you are implying that there was a regular down wind take off.

My response could have elicited further information.

No, what you assumed. He said it departed in a northerly direction, not that it took-off in a northerly direction

A 1000hrs take off would have meant getting in for flight planning at 0630. On a Sunday mroning?! Every Sunday morning?! That would have called for strike action. You may be confusing it with the dreaded 8 o'clock slot on a Monday, on which huge importance was placed.
