Scout Association South Yorkshire air activities

Way back in the depths of time the South Yorkshire Scout Association flew a T21 and owned a T31 based at RAF Lindholm. These were flown as part of Humber Gliding club.

Start year, without my log book to hand, must have approx 1974 and certainly lasted until 1981 when I finally left the area.

Does anyone have any recollections or photographs from those times?

Names I remember from amongst many of the Scout leaders; Ted Mears, Eric Moody, Steve Moody, Steve Winnard, ? Rothwell, and far too many others. From the Humber GC side Chris and Kath Gildea again amongst others.

Air Scouts in South Yorksire

HI

Eric Moody was one of the ACC for South Yorkshire as well as a leader from the 173rd Woodhouse. He had much involvement in aviation after serving time in the RAF at RAF Gaydon (a V Bomber base) and then bringing scouts to RAF Finningley to sell programs during open days.

Steve (Stephen) his son became a leader there probably around the time he was doing teacher training at Doncaster.

I can remember going to the airfield to do some welding on the winch cable cage.

Both Have now passed away
