If I won a very significant sum on the Lottery I'd love to have an airworthy reproduction built of something which no longer exists, for which drawings and a suitable engine were available; perhaps an AW Siskin for example...

I'd go for a DH.6: unloved at the time and sadly not a 'front line' type so unlikely to be done anytime soon. But it was the world's first dedicated trainer and so marks a very important milestone.

I would buy them while I'm waiting for TVAL to build a replica of my Grandfather's CameL I would want it painted in its last colour scheme, as flown by Otto Kissenberth:

My Grandfather landed behind German lines after being "shot down" although he claimed it was engine failure. He obviously made an "excellent" landing, since the Germans got to "use it again".

I've often wondered why he didn't burn his aircraft after landing. Perhaps he didn't have any matches. He did however have violin strings - details here:

One hundred years ago today, my grandfather, the "Musical Tommy" was shot down

Not that I've thought about it. But I'd buy the now closed local airport from the idiots in the council by lying to them that I'lI turn it into a cultural hub or something. Then turn it into a combination of Shuttleworth and Duxford. I'll build my mansion there too.
With all my money they won't mess with me because I'll fund their stupid art fantasies.

Lots of WW1 replicas and a Hurricane. Plus a Corsair and a Piper Cub.

If money is no object, the Kiwi's are restoring to flight all sorts of interesting aircraft. Mosquito, Spitfire, Kittyhawk, Mustang etc etc. Give them a pile of bits (and lots of cash) and they'll sort you out..

Sure did, and you sat facing the tail well aft of the pilot, as in a Beaufighter.

Megan (or any body else)

I understood the Mosquito had both propellers turning same direction.
From the floppy blade distortion below I underdstand that they have corrected that for the Sea Hornet?

Yes - counter rotating.

The downgoing half of the propeller "disc" produces more thrust than the upgoing, known as asymmetric blade effect.

This leads to one of the engines being critical in the event of engine failure in that the yaw effect will be greater.

Counter rotating propellers solve the critical engine problem.

Money no object, I'd have a pair of Mozzy & Beau replicas in Carbon fibre with turboprops & GPS autopilot - oh, and a shirtsleeves cabin for comfort once you get above the bulk of the weather.

Except in the case of the P-38 where both were critical. (tongue in cheek - check direction of rotation, done for good reason though)
