Does anyone know how the 727 came to be abandoned at Faro for so many years?

Jean-Pierre Bemba used it to flee DR Congo about 10 years ago after he lost the presidential election.

B.727, 9Q-CMC took VP Jean Pierre Bemba out of the Congo to avoid treason charges on 11 th April, 2007. The plane was ex Lufthansa and has not flown since.
