Aircraft in Yard in Marans
Drove through Marans (Charente-Maritime) yesterday and on the main road opposite Super-U glimpsed a scrap yard I have never seen before as gates previously always closed. Just inside the gate on the right what looked like the fuselage in bare metal of something between I guess DC3 and Flamant/Dove size. Could not stop due to traffic and need to get to a meeting. Anyone else seen it or know what it is please. May be through on Saturday so will try for another look

Presumably the long silver object at the centre of this googlemap?
Annoyingly Streetview pics taken either side of gate so can't see it that way. Measurement suggests it is at least 35' long.

Madneon used to be in the old boatyard in the Maran port. They moved to the current yard around 18 to 24 months ago having being evicted (I do not know why or how..)
Having visited the yard and spoken to the proprietor - nice guy - somewhat artistic... They create large and small artworks for sale and lease. Some really interesting pieces. The fuselage is I think a Flamant, certainly not and AN5. This summer he had a job lot of transport cases for a missile )about 8 to 10 ft long and 1.5 feet square, I'm sure he'll come up with a suitable idea...

I saw briefly as I passed on way to La Rochelle Airport, but later than planned as usual, I think Mme W uses a calendar not a watch. I would go for Flamant having seen the (airworthy) ones at Pons-Avy. Much appreciate interest. DW/Gasax - how close are you to F-le-C, I am between Fontenay and La Chataigneraie
If it's been positively ID'd as a Flamant, it should be relatively easy to pin down which serial number it is - there are around 50 extant out of the 300+ that Dassault built.
I must confess that I wasn't able to discern the fuselage on GE.
The An-2, by the way, is F-AZHB (17347309), which was written off in 2008 and subsequently donated its wings and engines to be used in the rebuild of another airframe.

Dave,
I had trouble finding it at first:

DW, are you a member of RAFA Sud Ouest? If not we should tempt you. Either way might be good to meet for a beer. I am between Fontenay le Comte and La Chataigneraie, soon to be near Scille (79)
