Remains of WWII Spit that crashed in Co.Monaghan put on display

A story from The Irish Times, the remains of Flt Lt Gordon Hayter Proctor's Spitfire that crashed south of the border on September 20th, 1942 go on display in the Monaghan County Museum.

A exhibition has a large picture of Flt. Lt. Proctor, complete with sergeants stripes.

He was an RAF Reservist before the war. It's entirely possible that he was still an NCO at the time he got his wings.
