Handley Page HP.88

Does anybody posess, or have access to the following publication?

"Note on the structural failure of the Handley Page 88 (E.6/48) VX330"
RAE Structures Department
Note No. ACC 245
A.J. Almond
July 1952

I have tried both the Public Record Office and the Farnborough Library to no avail.

Barrie Hygate (British Experimental Jet Aircraft) almost certainly had access to a copy, but I believe that he is no longer with us.

Many thanks.

Do you mean the RAeS library at Farnborough? FAST https://www.airsciences.org.uk/archi...llections.html has a large collection of RAE reports.

It's possible that the Air Ministry file on the accident Type: Handley Page HP 88 (VX-330). Location: Stansted Airfield, Essex. Report No: S2539 | The National Archives might include a copy of the report or at least quote from it.

My first thought was FAST as well, but you could try the BAHG too: Bedford Aeronautical Heritage Group

The second link (National Archives, Kew) provided by Innominate is the accident report. A copy can be obtained by clicking on the right hand of the two green captions at the top of the page, "Request a copy". Need to pay, my experience is they provide a first class service, and quick. Would have thought the accident report would address the nature of the failure in some detail.

Brief description of the accident here.
