Sycamore, if you're referring to the chap with the chain in his hand they were used to collapse the chocks so the ac could go taxi over the top of them. Saw them in training but never used in anger.

Thumbs up

Thanks Kitbag ;now I see it,obviously waiting for the next `Bloggs` to appear, having left the straps flapping in the breeze` tsk, tsk`. No nav lights on wingtips so,day only, also appears to have a light coloured band around the fuselage, between the strakes and roundel, possibly blue coloured,or yellow,as the a/c is not in camo. UAS,or Aux Sqdn...?

A-A,history of picture..? book or postcard..? might be worth a try on the Flypast site....

Pulling the chock chain would 'collapse' the chock and 'unjam' it from the tyre so it could be pulled away from the wheel easier, not normally required on a Tiger so maybe belonged to the Vampire sqn.

Is that the correct 'Nethers' Phil or did you mean to put Netheravon?
(Wouldn't have thought a Vamp could get into Netherthorpe - longest runway 553m)

Sorry, not Acklington - if it was looking towards the village on the hill you'd see the church on the left hand side (a 'significant' obstruction on take off/landing from 01/19). IIRC we studes were not allowed to use that runway solo, or maybe just not in JP3's.

I have to say it bears some resemblance to Duxford - might the Tiger be from CUAS?
