Control Tower ID - Difficult

[IMG][/IMG]

This may not be the right place for this but I know there is a wealth of knowledge here from the airfield ID thread so if anyone knows where this is I would be pleased to hear from you. The problem is I don't have a clue where in the world it is but it looks like it maybe Stateside??
Thank You
KeMac

If no answer on here - the anoraks (oh ok experts ) on AIX (airfield information exchange) might be able to help - they are very good on airfields/buildings etc.

Yes, I agree. The antenna array, architecture and out-building arrangement is American. Where in America? That is the question..

KeMac

Where were you when you took the photo?

Dave

Edit; Apologies. Written after returning from a very pleasant evening in the pub. Seemed funny at the time, but as HT has pointed out, it probably isn't. Sorry

I hate to be pedantic, but I'd say "In America."

Airclues, I would suggest KeMac wasn't there which is why the OP is trying to identify where it is.

Could it be an American tower built on a UK airfield?

Thanks for all the responses. This picture was taken by a friend of mine who is a professional golf caddy who travels worldwide, mainly Far East and the USA so it won't be far from a major professional golf course I reckon. It is a long running game whereby he sends me a Control Tower Picture and I guess where it is. They were always big airports like Haneda and KL but he said you will never get this one and unfortunately I think he is right because I don't have a clue where to start. If it is USA and I think it is, there must be thousands of them. I hate being beaten but it looks like he has me beat on this one unfortunately. Had someone identified it I would of course admit I had help (much later!!)
Many Thks

If you know when he sent it, check tournaments about that time. Might help.

Did you try that AIX suggestion - looks like this is their bread and butter:

Actually there are about 514 of them..

The Control Tower looks to be a Level 1, and could also be a non-FAA tower. There are about 167 non-FAA control towers in the USA.

Thank you for all the suggestions - it is ladies professional golf at the top level and there are two likely US candidates - Rogers Ark and Pinehurst NC which are in the right time frame. An afternoon on Google Earth awaits plus I will head over to the Airfield info link as suggested. Several heads are better than one that is for sure!!
Many Thanks
KeMac

If anyone is interested it is the old tower at Rogers Municipal Airport Ark.and using a bit of guile and looking at where golf tournaments where held at that time, it was quick to find, otherwise I would still be looking

It is the abandoned control tower at former RCAF Station Winisk, Ontario.
Winisk was one of eight Sector Control Stations on The Mid Canada Line chain of radar stations, and operated from 1957 to 1965. As there is no road, rail or ship access to the site, an airstrip was constructed to serve the base.
