RAFGSA Slingsby Skylark 3B 259?
I'm hoping some of the older glider pilots might be able to help me with a bit of research? I'm seeking some information on the colours RAFGSA gliders were painted in the 1960s. There appears to be quite a bit of variation. Specifically I'm trying to establish the colour of Skylark 3B Ser No 1223 RAFGSA 259. References I have found suggest it made some flights at Bicester, but I can't trace where it was based. I have copies of the original Slingsby GA drawings that show this glider with a red fuselage and cream wings and fin. A fairly common combination of glider colours, but the plans also show day glow red tip of nose, wing tips and upper surface of horizontal stab and elevator. This seems an odd combination and not one I have seen before, so was it really painted that colour? I have a single B&W photo of this glider and the fuselage doesn't look dark enough to be red. It was one of two Skylarks later sold to the Korean AF, but that's another "story" that has become a cold trail. Any help, especially pictures of RAFGSA Skylark 3s would greatly appreciated

RAFGSA 259 was Comp No 132. Flown by East Anglian G C from RAF Duxford. The glider was sold back to Slings who then exported it to Korea. I would really like to see a copy of your photograph of it as it is one of the RAFGSA gliders from the 'wooden era' which I can not find a photo of.
The Skylark 3 at the GSA Wessex club in 1961 (Andover, Andy Gough CFI before he went to Bicester) was plain aluminium doped. I'm pretty sure it did get a red/cream colour scheme before being sold when the GSA bought a few Oly 463s in 1963. I don't know its GSA number, Al Stacey or Ian Mcfadyen may have records.

Thanks for the replies. I have several pictures of red RAFGSA gliders but the combo of red and day glow just seemed very unlikely despite that being what is shown on Slingsby's own general arrangement drawings depicting 259 and in the one photograph of it I have found (albeit b&w) it doesn't appear red based on the contrast with what I assume is a dayglow nose and fuselage band....but I could be wrong
