When it was based at Farnborough, only COEF or OC Flying were allowed to fly it.
One particular OC Flying even dressed the part; he borrowed a WW1 leather flying coat from the RAE museum and along with a leather helmet, put on jodhpurs and riding boots and went out to fly it. One of the EFSOs had a NW Frontier type pith helmet (topee?) and he would wear that while on the ground!!
