Can anyone please shed any light on a Vulcan crash at an airshow. One of the crew members killed was called Norman (Surname) ?

He was called in at the last moment due to a sick crew member.

Any info would be appreciated.

Do you mean prototype VX770 at Syerston in 1958 due to over stressing the modified wing leading edge? Google is often your friend!

The Syerston crash names do not include Norman. The only other possible 'airshow' crash was the one at Heathrow ?

No, none of the crew who perished in that accident was called Norman (neither surname nor given name).

Yes, I've just seen that Dave. They were all Sqn Leaders (crew in the back)apart from the Avro rep as maybe you would expect after a high viz round the world tour .

Mmm I must check my info, if he was called Norman he must have been in a different crash ? The plot thickens !

It wasn't a Vulcan, it was Victor XM716 at Wyton 29 June 1966. Navigator was F/L Royston Arthur Norman.
