Trident 1c G-ARPO latest
Hi All
Its been a while since we updated you all on the Last Trident 1c that we are restoring at the air museum in Sunderland.
Over the summer months much has been carried out including the rubbing down and painting of most of the seats for the front cabin. The two Pullman tables are now made and the front is carpeted and door areas vinyled. The galley boxes and fronts are made and are being colour powder coated as we speak. We also moved the trident in the museum to a much better position for display within the museum as well as went to Boscombe down and removed the spey engine nacelles, intakes and jet pipes off their remaining bac1-11 . This now gives us all the engine casings and panels for both sides.
We have through this dry warm summer concentrated most of our efforts on the fuselage outside with it being rubbed down , and the bare aluminium treated with alocrome that was sponsored by Trimite. We are now in a position to paint the aircraft of which we need to do very soon with the weather changing. We managed to find a good spray company who will help us by doing part sponsorship and part payment, this has worked out a bit more then what remains in the Trident account , I hate asking this but if any one can help towards our shortfall we would very much appreciate it, we need to raise it so we can start next week. We have had such a good year and we are getting ourselves in a position to open up around may next year , 50 years from the first trident fare paying passenger service. We just hope we don't fall short with the work we have done sanding down to not have paint on it over the winter
On a final note, and many will remember them in the last month we have also been visited by Capt Viv Gunton and the son of the late Capt Dennis Eve, who were both impressed by our efforts

Applying Alochrome with a garden hose in an unsealed outside area is a very interesting way of fighting corrosion... Probably it will also solve any issue with weeds or pest in the area for the next decades...
