Jimmy Melrose

Interesting story about Jimmy Melrose. A young Australian aviator who was a national hero in the 1930s before his untimely death in a plane crash in 1936.
I feel embarrassed to admit I didn't know about him, despite the fact one the main roads leading to Melbourne Airport is named after him.
He would have turned 100 this week.

I knew of him because I have the movie "The Great Air Race" in which he is portrayed, exactly as described in the article. It also mentions his untimely demise at the end. Good, and very rare movie.

Is there really such a thing, as a "timely death in an aircraft crash"??

That Heston-Phoenix is a rather lovely-looking aircraft. What a shame Jimmy Melrose died so young. He certainly had everything going for him.
