Carvair!!
I was clearing out a box of cr@p in my attic the other day and found my old Carvair flight manual. That brought back a few memories but I am now looking for a Dutch guy called Maarten Brouwer who is writing a book on the old beast and would probably be glad to copy some of the stuff. If anyone knows an address for him I wiould be obliged!

You could try <[email protected]>
That is the address I have for him when he contacted me about flying Carvairs about 10 years ago.
Delivered 2 from NZ to Honolulu, and nicknamed them "Polish 747's", to the amusement of some visiting USAF Colonel on detachment with a KC-135R at Pago Pago. Spent a month on the ground replacing a blown R-2000.

I used to live just off of the approach for 06 (or departure for 24 depending on the wind), at Southend and have many memories of Carvairs grumbling in and out of the airport. Along with with Bristol Freighters, DC-3s and Viscounts. I spent a few hours as a kid in the fields (scrumping strawberries) under the approach and being deafened as Carvairs came in to land. G-ASHZ is the only one I remember. Never thought I'd be following in their slipstream.

Maarten crops up on a number of DC3 sites, eg a credit at the bottom of

You should be able to trace him via one of them...

I thought the original question was about an e-mail address, not how much anybody was with it!Why not check and see if that address is or is not correct.
The actual Carvair flights took place over 10 years ago; in 1990 to be precise, and I was contacted about his forthcoming book some time later.
