Wooden Props!!
Good morning on the last day of a sad year fellow Ppruner's.
I have two wooden prop blades, I was told that they had originally came from either a Spit or a Hurri, thing is they have lost about .5 of an inch from the tips, they have a copper or brass leading edge strip are covered in what looks like very primitive plastic, black in colour, and have a very big steel threaded sleeve on the base, I have had these for years and feel that I should either find some one who can use them or turn them into a thing of grace, that could then adorne my wife's mantle piece!, before I do that, has anyone out there got any idea's . I also have three never been used blades that I am told are of De Havilland/Gypsy 6 origin??
A Happy and prosperous New Year to all you Ppruners. May all your Landings be small and neat!

VFRP,
Thanks for the info and Happy New Year.
Down here in the Antipodes, we'd be very interested to know if your alledged Gipsy Queen 6 props are of the metal Fairey Reed variety for a Rapide. They are the most common and a mate is looking for a spare. Any markings thereon would be useful and/or delay until we get the exact part # required.
Thus, may we have '1st option' to purchase once the research is done?
G'day and thanks again for posting the info!! <img src="cool.gif" border="0">
