Thumbs up Folland Gnat

Dave Roome and the chaps at Deltajets made my father a very happy teddy today....a sortie in his favourite little plane, the Gnat.

35 minutes throwing it around the Malverns before returning to Kemble for a couple of "circuits" left him grinning like a Cheshire cat.

To top it all off, Deltajets are located in the very same hangar Dad flew his last Gnat from 26 years ago with the Arrows.

It brought back some wonderful memories to us all, a proud wife and very proud son. All in all, a bloody good day !

Any other ex-Gnat mates might want to contact Kemble as I believe they're having a get-together in February.

Have a look at this site at their Gnat. Looks like an ex Red Arrows machine.

There was a Gnat flying circuits here at Brize the other day - I wonder whether that was him?

Guessed that it would be Dave Roome! Another ex-Gnat chap and myself watched it out of the window and were green with envy!!

First Gnat trip was pretty amazing after a few months off from the JP5. Did the sims, learned the checks, but the first trip in the Folland Pocket Rocket was unbelievable - charged around North Wales and bounced a 3-ship of orange coloured Meteors recovering to Llanbedr, then back via the A5 pass! On my second trip we had an AC/DC failure, so it was CUBSTUN for real and back to Valley! Guess that encouraged me to make bŁoody certain that my emergency drills were second nature!!

But for real adrenalin, the first trip in a 'GT6' Hunter was the ultimate rush!
