RAF Hinton-in-the-Hedges.

Hello Everone,
Might be a long shot, but does anyone here have any information about Hinton.
I have a aircraft that I fly from there, and would love to find out more about the old base. Any old photos, stories etc.
Cheers
TP

One of many Bomber Command Operational Training Units in the Midlands, Hinton opened in November 1940 as a satellite to No. 13 OTU at Bicester with Blenheims and Ansons. Responsibility was transferred to 16 OTU from July 1942 to April 1943. After this the airfield was mainly used by the Signals Development Unit. It was used for the first RAF ILS trials. July 1944 saw the field down graded to care and maintenance.

There is a good photographic record of surviving buildings and defence structures here and an identification of same. A pity the control tower was demolished not very long ago. It was a unique design.
