Help with Aircraft recognition

A few years ago, at a small desert strip in China, I saw an old single engined aircraft (open radial engine), sliding cockpit canopy, tail dragger, with enclosed passenger fuselage and four or five round porthole type windows.

Not much to go on, but could anyone assist with a suggested identification.

The Chinese pilot was wearing a leather flying helmet and goggles!

High wing, low wing, biplane? Retractable gear or fixed?

I was going to suggest AN-2, but sliding canopy doesn't match.

An-2 it is/was! Think I may have been mistaken re the sliding canopy.

Many thanks.
