Lands Ends Airport
Lands End The Timewarp
You will be pleased to know that L/End (St Just) Airport has not changed that much.
In fact the fence with red/white paint (now faded) still exists as do the red and white telegraph poles on the approach to what was 25.
Passengers now stroll out to a BN2B or a DHC6 for that short but visually stimulating trip to the Isles.
Attempts to provide a hard runway have always met with local opposition in case it attracts larger aircraft.
In fact providing a strobe on the tower and PAPI'S for 34 nearly toppled the Government with thoughts of 737's dropping in to avail themselves of this major upgrade.
Its still a great visit and has it's proper Airport Cafe back serving proper food. (Christine's Kitchen) (very good)
Airfield still closed on Sundays though, and the Penzance Helicopters will not be moving there.
