P-47 found near Cherbourg?
There was a thread a couple of weeks ago about P-47D remains found near Cherbourg; the pilot, Kenneth Hindersinn had bailed out.
There was a link to a lengthy article in a New Hampshire (US) newspaper, but unfortunately, all the article said about the wreck site was that "the wreckage was apparently unearthed last month on a farm..." Can't find anything more specific by searching the Web.
Does anybody perchance know what "the wreck" consisted of? Buried? Engine block and little more? Identifiable parts?

According to various sources the wreck was found on a farm in Gourbesville, near Cherbourg. Gourbesville is a tiny area and I expect we'll see photographs before the week is out. It's all being handled by a French aviation history society.

Thanks, I've been in touch with the French and have learned more. Apparently recovered the engine, prop, turbocharger, cockpit section, four guns, and a gear leg and wheel.
