I was replying to another thread and posted this picture of Berth 50 at Southampton Docks......
I think your 'control tower' is there above the right wing of the BOAC boat.....given the location and the activity, control tower seems unlikely to me as there is a clear (?) control tower on the corner of the terminal behind. Might simply be a little shed for the mooring crews to take afternoon tea.

Bearing in mind it was over 50 years ago, but that would be the berth where I saw the 'boat in 1956. I don't recall the 'BOAC' sign but then BOAC didn't operate boats in '56 did they?
