During 1942 BOAC and RAF Liberators made some flights direct from the UK to Cairo over occupied Europe which must have been an interesting experience for the passengers!
Has anyone come across details of routings for these flights or any first hand accounts?

Spoke with the chap (quite well known, and still giving lectures) who was the translator for the UK Govt in Russia in WW2 about how they got to Moscow in those days. He said they went by Liberator, but routing UK - Gibraltar - Malta - Alexandria - Beirut - Yalta - Moscow.
Possibly any flights to Cairo took an equivalent routing.

The original BOAC Liberator flights to Moscow operated nonstop from Prestwick.
For the nonstop Cairo flights it is suggested that they entered France from the Bay of Biscay,crossed Northern Italy and then turned down the Adriatic.
Almost nothing seems to have been written about these flights.
