Hickstead W Sussex Airfield??

Simple question. Has there ever been an airfield on the current site of the Hickstead horsey place??
Looks like it on google maps.
Any information available?

It's marked as an airfield on the OS 1/25000, which I would translate as a strip:

Bing maps

Douglas Bunn, an erstwhile owner, used to own a Jet Ranger G-JUMP.

Been a grass runway there for over 35 years, apart from being visible on satelllite photos, I remember seeing show jumping on telly years ago and the commentator mentioning the horses crossing the runway.
Douglas Bunn, so I was informed, bought the helicopter (originally an Enstrom) when he lost his driving licence (usual reason)
