taylor scott

i was reading old threads about the family looking for old photographs of taylor, and although a number of chaps appeared to have them lying about, i wondered if the family ever received any, as being close, i heard nothing more about it.

it is now 23 years since the accident and still the coroner's verdict, and findings, remain a 'stone in the shoe'. The coroner was not happy, why should anyone else have been. There was much more to come out which never surfaced. Hardly surprising though. Design department, kingston? anyone still about? assembly line workers, kingston ? the safety officer, kingston and his warning to that department ? the accident on the kingston assembly line - falsified safety certs. BAe's failure in cahoots with the MOD to advise the RAF of thtese events? oooh, that all still hurts, 23 years later.

David Mulford "graduated" with Taylor from Linton-on-Ouse in 1965.

David sent me this photo for inclusion on my Linton-GIN website.

I think Taylor is sitting behind his Aerobatics trophy. I don't suppose too many people have seen this one before.

I'd be happy to ask David if I can pass this on ( & he may have more )

As far as I recall, from a Farnborough ATC point of view the following occured:
It was towards closing time at Farnborough. The Harrier departed Dunsfold and as per SOP was handed over at 2000ft heading 290 deg. The Farnborough Approach controller (not me-I was on LARS) co-ordinated a climb through controlled airspace once again as SOP, and when clear of controlled airspace just east of Boscombe, handed it over to London Military. The pilot never got to call London; I cannot recall if he actually acknowledged the instruction to change frequency. We closed, and when I got home the TV news was reporting a 'runaway pilotless Harrier over the Bristol Channel'.

Apologies my memory seems to be in error; he apparently did check in with London Mil. It could be that after they were unable to make contact with him, they phoned us (as the previous frequency) to see if he had returned to our frequency (a normal procedure).
