No, I appreciate the sentiment, it is a huge shame that so many of these wonderful aircraft were scrapped, leaving so few survivors. And with the loss of another P-51 this week in a tragically fatal accident in the USA...
actual war veterans
Yes, whats a real shame is that many of the actual war verterans with many combat missions were not saved.
We have Flak Bait & Memphis Belle & others. But the majority with war records were not saved.
Or of course the odd types, such as a WW2 Pacific War combat veteran like the B-32 would have been nice to still see on display. Or a couple more P-61's or P-82's!
But of course after the war who still wanted to look at such things. Getting a life going was much more important.
