The end of the article explains that it is a "Flight of Fancy"--the title of the site, Mushroom Models--suggests what's powering the fancy: a sonic 'shroom.

The fictions written by 'enthusiasts' do nothing but confuse fantasy with actual aviation history for those inclined fall for them them. PPRuNe choses not to give them air time.
