RFC Kite Balloon Squadrons

I've just discovered that my wife's great uncle, a Captain in the 20th Hussars, was posted to a Kite Balloon Squadron on 12 Sep 1915 as a Balloon Officer (confirmation here).

Can anyone suggest more sources to research to find out more about the Squadrons, and his service with the RFC? He survived the war, and his son, now 87, may have some info, but it took place some time before he was born.
