Mosquito sound files?

Sadly, the father of a good friend has passed away, and he had served in the RAF. For the funeral address, it would be really appreciated to have use of a good quality sound file of a Mosquito (or other merlin-engined twin) in flight or flypast.
Take-off even.
Can any ppruners point me in the right direction?

many thanks
HnH

I'm sure you'll find better, but the flypast in the middle of this is a starter for 10!

You might be able to get some good sound from this:

If no one comes up with anything better, there are quite a few video clips on YouTube of the late lamented RR299 (including the tragic denouement) - if you have the technology, you could probably "extract" the sound element from one of those. I've seen some videos of it at North Weald in '96 - tingles the old back bone a bit!

Try the Sounds section in the Donated Files part of The Mosquito Page.

Donated Files

should get you there but if you have any problems, PM me and I'll try to send them direct.

Can you wait until Monday, as I can't access my sound effects database until I'm back to work?
I'm a post production sound mixer and I think one of the 'National Sound Archive CD's' has a Mosquito on it...or maybe a BBC FX disc. The BBC FX discs certainly have a set of other 'Merlin engine' recordings -Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster. I myself have a P-51 recorded earlier this year at Duxford.
I tried the NSA website and put in 'Mosquito Aircraft' but only got 'David Dimbleby broadcasting from a Mosquito over Normandy', probably not what you're after.
