Qantas routes/destinations in the 1970's and 1980's
Hello,
We would like to know the Qantas routes/destinations it had in the 70's and 80's with both the Boeing 707 and 747. We have not been able to get a hold of some time-tables from that era but people we have asked who travelled on Qantas from that time period have given us some clues, but their memories are fading so we would like some confirmation. Note, these are for flights operated by Qantas directly; not code share with other airlines.
This is what we have so far;
Europe destinations from Australia;
London, Manchester, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris, Athens, Rome, Belgrade, Istanbul, Vienna
Asia/Middle East destinations from Australia;
Bahrain, Bombay, Tehran, Damascus, Calcutta, Karachi, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Denpasar (Bali), Manila, Colombo,Tokyo, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Hong Kong, Beijing
Pacific/USA destinations from Australia;
Honolulu, Port Moresby, Nadi, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago,Vancouver, Torronto, Tahiti, Acapulco, Mexico City, Nassau, Bermuda, Papeete, Noumea, Norfolk Island
Africa destinations from Australia;
Johannesburg, Mauritius, Harare, Cairo
Please correct what's already listed, or add those which are missing.
Thank you.

I can tell you with absolute certainty that Edinburgh has never been a Qantas destination and I don't think Abu Dhabi was - certainly not in the 70s
when I worked at the airport there. I think your best bet is to check one of the Airline timetable websites to see what they have.

QF transited Dubai, not Abu Dabi.
Did QF operate to Belgrade, or only in pool with JAT?

Apologies.
Now recall the DBX stop over was on KLM. You're correct, QF transited via BAH, where for some reason I've now forgotten, the window slides were pulled down as we taxied into the terminal.

QF did not operate to Edinburgh, Copenhagen or Abu Dhabi.
QF did operate to Istanbul, Vienna, Karachi, Calcutta, Damascus, Colombo, Tehran, Delhi, Papeete, Mexico City, Nassau, Noumea, Bermuda, New York, Mauritius and Joburg.
Without delving too deeply into old log books, I think that's about it. Ah yes, 14 sector LHR trips - land on just about every bit of flat ground between SYD and LHR.
There were also military charters to Saigon and migrant charters to Lima and a few European ports.
BTW, what's a B797? We had B707s then B747s.

Add the following:
Acapulco, Bermuda, Chicago, Harare, Madrid, Mexico City, Mauritius, Nassau, Noumea, Papeete. Port Moresby, Toronto, Vienna.
There were a few others pre the 707 and 747.

Thank you very much for the information! Really appreciate it. I don't believe this information is available anywhere on the Internet but here!
oooops .. pressed the '9' key instead of the '0' key on the keyboard.
