Seeing the thread on G-AIZZ has inspired me to ask if anybody has old pictures of my (well, I'm paying the bills until another custodian comes along) 1946 Auster Autocrat G-AHAM?

There was a picture of her in Pilot a while back looking very sorry for herself after clipping one of the WW2 bunkers at Biggin Hill(?) in the '50s which I would love to have a copy of.

I have fond memories of G-AHAM. I flew it on several occasions in 1958 when it was on the strength of the Cheltenham Aero Club. I think the owner was Arthur Such, a Cheltenham businessman. He emigrated to Jersey and his son, John, reached a high position in Jersey Airport management.

Between 1954 & 1961 G-AHAM was invloved in six reported incidents, none of them particularly serious and none of them at Biggin Hill.

Are you able to give any more specific information?

Hi all,
No photos I'm afraid, just a little nostalgia - I remember being taken up for a short flight (my first ever in a light aircraft) from Ford airfield in this aircraft as a teenager in 1976 by my then employer (part time school job!) As I remember it was very windy & bumpy day which my youthfull enthusiasm disregarded (with typical consequences for my breakfast!)
He owned the aircraft which had just been rebuilt at Ford and had a fresh CAA certificate
The first time I had seen this aircraft, it was parked down the side of his garage at home with the wings alongside it!
Imagine my surprise at seeing the registration in the forum list - I remember it distinctly as my only other then colleague's name was Graham!

edskarf, I don't have any more info. I'll see if I can dig out the copy of Pilot to see if there is more in the letter they printed.

There is a pic of her in Staverton taken on the 5th June 1957 looking very sorry for herself with the right undercarriage leg flat on the floor beside the fuselage and the wings off. Maybe the accident was at Staverton rather than Biggin?

Two of the incidents involving G-AHAM were at Staverton. In 1960 it nosed over resulting in "engine seriously damaged". The following year it was struck on the ground by another Auster and suffered damage to the port wing and the cabin roof.

If I guess correctly, the photo you mention is the one on the AB website and that says it was taken in 1957.

I have just realised HAM suffered a 7th incident when it forced landed in France due to engine failure after which it passed into the ownership of James Stock at Goodwood.
