Researching the Royal Naval Air Service

Folks I am looking for a pointer from you. I have been looking through the family photo album and have found some old pics of my grandad in his RNAS uniform.
I have been trying to research his history but am finding RNAS information hard to come by. I have tried ancestry........etc but with no success. Anyone any tips?

Thanks

EW

Not that surprising when you consider it only lasted six years, most of which was in wartime.

What do you think your Grandad did in the RNAS, and did he stay in uniform after the war?

National Archives

I have found the National Archives helpful with a dedicated section on the Royal Naval Air Service & Fleet Air Arm.

I think this is him in his earliest days. I think the trade is Airframe Mechanic, but as yet I know nothing else.

As to after the war he retired back to Belfast and was a shopfitter for the rest of his life. He always retained an interest in aviation...probably rubbed off on his grandson

If you still have the Edit button available on the bottom right hand of the text window, try adding a [ before the first IMG. It should then appear as a picture. [IMG]http://i431.photobucket.com/albums/qq37/..../.
