C-54D/MATS/Amber 2 Airway information
I am researching missing aircraft AF 2469 and am having trouble finding information on C-54D MATS flights from Alaska to the Lower 48 on the Amber 2 airway back around 1950 or so. I would really like to talk to anyone who crewed those flights back in the 50's. I have some questions I would also like to ask anyone who maintained C-54Ds for the Air Force. Can anyone here direct me to good sources for this information?
I have questions about feathering motors, winter/over land survival gear contents(I know there was 800lbs of it), as well as where the emergency fields were for the Amber 2 route. Also on my list is info from anyone who actually used a Gibson Girl radio.
Thanks in advance for any help you folks can be...

Hello Matt, did you ever get more information regarding USAF 2469? There are several of us in BC looking into it as well. There is a very recent good documentary on it called Skymaster Down. Cheers . . . . .
