service record acronyms

Yes - the RAF love em more than the other services!

anyone got any suggestions for the following:

2 RC - which Recruitment Centre was No 2 in 1946?

R.C.I.C G.S.T.S. - the first thing on the record after 2RC

1103 MCU D24 (not sure about the 4 as its been overwritten)

IM.C.T.S (followed by illegible letters which may be Dir. Ta.)

If someone is well up on reading these I'd be grateful for any tips

thanks
Kate

1103 MCU could be 1103 Marine Craft Unit, based (I think) at Felixstowe in Suffolk. No. 2 Recruit Centre was at RAF Cardington, near Bedford.

Many thanks for these pointers - its really appreciated - when I see the letters MOFNINO written on a record I start to panic!

I'm flying tomorrow - with BMI - wish me luck

Good Luck!

Further to my earlier post, 1103 MCU was indeed based at Felixstowe but also had detachments at Gorleston (Norfolk) and Sheerness (Kent).

Let us know how your research goes.
