Spitfire pictures

Hi all
I was at Shelsley Walsh hill climb in Worcestershire on sunday. At lunch, there was to be a Spitfire fly by and display. Later i learned the plane is based in Biggin hill, and called "Spirit of kent" It did about a 15 min display, Looked and sounded fantastic. I had my new camera and zoom lens with me, took some photos, some were'nt bad but these i was quite pleased with so decided to share them on here. Hope you like :
Quality is much better before i put them in photobucket though.

Thanks

James.

Hi there
When i put it from the camera stright to iphoto, the quality is amazing, on one of them, you can zoom in to the pilot, but when i upload the photo to photobucket the quality doesn't seem as good, cant zoom in as much
Camera im using is the Cannon 400D but with a cannon 55-200 zoom lens, not had it long though, still trying to get the hang of it.

Thanks

James.

Great pictures by the way. I especially like the second one, the way the light has caught the underside.

I'm not surprised you find the pictures poorer quality on Photobucket, especially if you're using their free hosting. They impose a limit on the file size, and will compress the image to fit this limit automatically. Your iPhoto software if it is a sufficiently recent version will support RAW camera files, i.e. no compression, and this allows you to retain far more detail.

Ahh James, a Canon 400D no less, Good,

Then I would suggest to you that you come over to the darkside and register on the forum I have listed below, it is free and we are a really nice bunch of people, there is a Transport section as well, we all help each other out, give critic and tips along the way.... I have learnt so much.. I have a Canon 350D and a fist full of lenses...... well 4 at least.

see you hopefully soon at EOS-forums.com - Index

Hope the mods do not mind me "poaching a fellow Photographer" here.

Its a very good choice for a computer desktop picture, not too much colour and contrast to obscure the desktop icons. I always find fussy, high contrast and or very colourful pictures almost camouflage icons and make them difficult to find.

I jealous now!

Off and on about 30 years James... having been bitten by the bug and started to take lots, since I bought my first Digital SLR about 3 or 4 years ago

before it was the hassle of getting films developed to find 99% of them were a waste of money that put me right off.......... now its shoot, look delete or keep and no money spent

Hi Tony.
Thats the thing i like about them, you can look at the pic and delete it, when i used to use film it was hit or miss weather it was any good lol.
Would like to get into doing more aircraft photography too really, fun trying to catch the perfect picture, seeing the Spitfire and an unexpected B2 Spirit in the same day i was a bit spoiled
What do you fly Tony?
