Whatever happened to Spitfire AP-D?
A few years ago I was given a print of a MkXIV Spit by John Evans. It's always struck a chord with me as I believe I saw the aircraft depited in the flesh at Farnborough, maybe 20 odd years ago.
As shown on the print, it's coded **689. My memory supplies RM689 however it may have actually been -619? I also vaguely remember that it was involved in a fatal crash... I think Woodford?
Can anybody fill in my memory?
Edit: RM not BD! Google-fu is letting me down.

It did indeed crash at Woodford and the pilot was killed.
However, Rolls Royce retained what was left of the aircraft and have been quietly rebuilding it over recent years - I believe it will reappear soon.

Thanks Treadigraph. Memories are snapping into place.
Good to hear it's being restored, though always sparing a thought for the late pilot and his family.

As at late June 2008, the fuselage of RM689/G-ALGT had been restored. The wings were structurally complete but not yet skinned.
