The tin can is a clue but it is not necessary, as my source messed up (see Argentinian Unbuilt Projects)...
the challenge is the Marut, and Reg got it first, even if these guys posted it with another name... and the similarity between the two national flags didn't help.
Sorry for the confusion, however at least the Marut has never been posted before
RegDep has control.
Edit: I see that RegDep also got what I thought to be the correct one.
They just took a three-view of the Marut methinks...

And I notice now that the Marut also was designed by Kurt Tank, so my "less typical" clue was also out of place...
Quite absent-minded today I am...
I will get some good sleep, maybe that'll help

BTW, the original text with the original picture of IA-40 says (freely translated) something like: "Upon retiring from the FMA, Tank (after 1955), along with the 62 German scientists who worked with him, was hired by Hindustan Aeronautics in India. Project I. A. 40 was designed in Cordoba and built as HINDUSTAN

Planned to be dropped from a mother ship I assume.
Edit: It is the Heinkel 176
There seem to be varying pictures of it (about it), and the Luft46 is one of them.
Skytrain has the thread.

Thanks Reg....happened to remember it from a book I have. As you the say the pictures generally show the final product which had a significantly different fin.
Just preping one, so stand-by.
