Wasn't the main problem with the Victor that they are all at the end of their fatigue life?

Re the Lightning, i think the vast majority of usable spares have now gone to South Africa.

Cdr Whitfield will have his work cut out methinks – Brian Grant really knew how to shake the old girl down!

Others here are better qualified to comment than myself, but I believe the Victor definitely belongs in the “complex” camp. Even if an airframe remains with sufficient hours left, the funding and engineering required would be phenomenal to say the least. Having said that, how awe-inspiring would it be to see a Victor in the air? I can dream I suppose…

I look forward to seeing the SV in her new livery

With regard to the Red Bull sponsorship, other forums have suggested that it was for a fixed term of 4 (?) years and simply ran it's course. Part of the deal was to return it to it's original colours.

The other forums are correct. 4 year deal, and a repaint on completion.

Just checked my old log book and the only time I flew in XP924 was 28 Feb 1967 on a night AI sortie - it's thought provoking just how long ago that was.

Not 924 but a sister cab on 899 Sqn at the moment of launch.
