Shuttleworth Collection Evening Display 17th May 2008

The weather on Saturday evening may have been grim but the rain held off allowing the Shuttleworth team to shine. One of the high-points was seeing the Comet fire up for its first public run in years. All of Bob's hours of polishing ensured that it absolutely gleamed.

We were treated to a breath-taking Sopwith dogfight between Andy Sephton in the Pup and Trevor Roche in the Triplane that left the air thick with the rich aroma of burnt castor oil - aaaah Shuttleworth!

Saturday evening also brought us the first display by John McMillan in his Hornet Moth. To quote Rob Millinship, John's day job is as a "767 Sky God" and he put on a very good display indeed in a lovely aeroplane.

The Edwardians wrapped up the display with their usual elegance, proving that even when the skies are grey, those who make the effort to get to a Shuttleworth show are rewarded with a wonderful evening's entertainment.

On with the show
