Ahhh! De Havilland

Don't know if this belongs here or on the Private Flying forum but I would like to say thank you to the guys who gave us 2 days of pure nostalgia at Kirkwall yesterday and today. The Fresson trust had organised a memorial to Ted Fresson to be erected adjacent to the field on Wideford Farm where Fresson first operated in the 1930s. Today was chosen as the 75th anniversary of the first scheduled flights. Initially Fresson's own aircraft GAAWO and a Dragon GECAN were scheduled to attend but it grew; 2 tigers a leopard and a hornet arrived as well as the dragon and a C140 to boot. Kirkwall's grass has never seen so much activity. Pictures courtesy of Neil Thain should be up on
www.spottersblog.com/kirkwallairport sometime this evening. Not only was the flying good to see the weather remained cavok throughout.
