Pan Am clipper Capt.

Anyone know what a flying boat Capt salary was back in the late 30's and early 40's. Thanks... Ed

I don't know if it helps very much but I nearly joined BOAC as a sprog in 1959. I still have a brochure up in the attic selling the advantages of joining BOAC and one statement comes to mind;

"A training captain on the Boeing 707 could earn as much as £5,000 p.a."

Above this statement was a photograph of an immaculately dressed "steelie" with four gold bands on his sleeves and a 707 in the background.
