Hawker Hunter - still in RAF service??
I wonder if anyone knows if the Hunter is still officially in RAF service? I thought the T Mk8c was the last type to go, when the Buccaneer was retired, in 1993, but I saw somewhere that 3 had been taken back on by the RAF in December 2006 for 'surface to air missile trials'.

My two pennorth, for what it's worth:
No,not in RAF service.
Not owned by the RAF (or MOD), not flown by the RAF, not maintained by the RAF.
But on the military register to get round the fact that, as civil registered a/c they had been on Permits to Fly and consequently barred from being used for 'aerial work' (or whatever they call it.)
The FRADU Hunters at Yeovilton, though maintained and (usually) flown by civilians, were still on RN charge. They were retired in the mid nineties.
