Thanks guys the links all worked for me some very good pictures/stories as well,

The science museum at Wroughton I remember going there a few years back just to see the connie only to be very disappointed being told at the hangar that its not open to the public only on maybe one day a year, what a waste never did get back and it looks brill in the pictures,

The connie that's in Nantes France that's interesting I am going to that area later this year on holiday I wonder if any of you guys know if its viewable to the public.

Nick.

A useful list of the A/C and some more pics

All of the objects are in six hangars, each covering over an acre of land. The collection is open during a programme of summer weekend events.

( I have visited mid week with an aviation group )

Hi Nick, You missed out on Duxford 16 June 1998, The Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation called in for a couple of days with the MATS connie and a C-54 ! I enjoyed a visit and they let you inside both, see below :-

Didn't Lufthansa just buy a couple with a view to getting one in airworthy condition? My memory could be wrong, but I'm sure I read something on here about that...

There is also one based in Switzerland I think. If you go on flightlevel350.com there are some videos of a connie doing low fly bys at an airshow in Switzerland...fantastic noise!

Breitling operate the Swiss Super Connie on the European circuit, which also appeared at Duxford several years ago - if the Dutch 749 and Lufthansa's 1649 get to fly again we'll have the potential of three in the air - magic!

Think the saddest decision was the grounding of the MATS Connie which is now located in Korean Airline's museum... On the other hand, good to see that Korean take obvious pride and are prepared to invest in their history unlike a certain UK airline.

Perkin Wow some fantastic videos there my fav was,

http://www.flightlevel350.com/Aircra...ideo-1835.html

The take off at dusk with flames out of the exhausts was a sight to behold, thanks for the links,

Nice to see that some are still living and flying,

Pity the only one in the UK is kept under lock and key so much of the time.

Nick.

I personally like the video of the Connie starting engines, terrific sound!

I believe its possible to fly in the Breitling Connie, but according to the website you have to join as a member of the club before you can board...they don't have the 2008 flight/event calendar on the website yet, however.

There are quite a few videos of Connies on YouTube.

This one (in two parts) about flying the Super Constellation is very typical of the period.
